Good ride today. 60 miles which puts us over 1000 miles of cycling so far! (See the KK mileage total above). At some point in our ride today we turned north. The road was long and deserted. There were a lot of Sheriffs and Border Patrol. Pam SAGed us at 30 miles and then every 10 miles. This is for safety (no cell service) and to provide a respite from the sun. At our 40 mile meet up she had a story. She had been pulled over by 5 sheriff and BP cars. Apparently this road is considered a high crime area shared by the cartel and ranchers. They inspected the car, heard her story and let her go. The Florida tags had caught their attention. We are staying the night at an amazing cabin in Vanderpool, TX called Peace of Heaven. Top picture is dinner on the porch of the cabin tonight.

ReplyDeleteGosh, glad the sheriff and border patrol gave you guys a heads up. Hope you are past the danger area. I am sure you were all glad to get to your Peace of Heaven! AND congratulations on 1000 miles. WOW that is a huge accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteWhat does SAG mean? Seems like riding solo, as opposed to a whole bike touring group, has some added encounters with law enforcement. Love the porch shot...and always Finn!
ReplyDeleteSAG is providing support to cyclists. She has cold drinks and provides a shady spot to rest.
