Second time in a police vehicle this trip

Great day today topped off by a ride in a police truck in Sanderson, TX. It appears we rode into the start of an annual road race. See the pictures. Suffice to say that Amy rode in the cab and I was in the back with the bike. We cycled 72 miles but would have been 82 accept for the closed highway for the road race. One more adventure.

  1. Love the photo of the lone cow by the roadside. Finn's never seen such sights!

  2. I guess I must have missed your first ride in the police vehicle. Apparently you escaped arrest both times.

  3. Don’t make this a habit or I won’t be allowed to hang out with you

  5. Wow!! No words!! I hoped that Amy and Pam would keep this trip on the right track! All that is in my head now is the following...... "Bad boys, bad boys whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?" Rob

  6. You know riding in the back is preferred to being in handcuffs! LOL Amazing things go on in other parts of the country that I am clueless about. A road race, really. I can only imagine how fun that is, and they have police support!

    1. Sort of wish we could know what is going on in Finn’s little mind.

Tomorrow we finish and lose our super human metabolism.

We had two great trails to ride on today. What a treat to get off the busy highways. It has been quite the odyssey to get here. Amy is a rock. Pam has been the most amazing blessing to us. She has served us better than we deserve. When you get up early everyday and ride lots of miles, you are grouchy. She has been our logistics expert. I have had two ladies and a dog put up with my crap for 7 weeks. I am humbled and undeserving. Thanks to Amy for the tireless planning and riding. Almost home!

In Gulf Shores, AL tonight.

It took about 30 minutes to exit Mississippi this morning. We dodged the rain until our last 30 minutes of the ride today. Made the 9:30am ferry across Mobile Bay. It costs $12 to take a tandem bike across in case you need to know that some time. The ferry saves us close to 70 miles. Lots of damage still in the gulf shore beach area. Rode a nice bike trail for several miles. Contemplating a trip to Lambert’s for dinner and a visit to Buccee’s.

In Gainesville. Two days left.
