Gila Bend to Tempe, AZ.

Long day but a solid ride. Amy is crushing it. It takes 5 water bottles to get you 96 miles in AZ. Cool seeing the airplane storage in the desert. We actually feel pretty normal after the ride. We got on the bike at 6am and climbed off after 1pm. Time to eat a late lunch.

  1. Great pics. My new routine is to have breakfast, catch up on emails, and check in on the bike ride across America!!!

  2. How is that monster Finn holding up as head of security? Do you all feel safe so far on the journey thanks to him?

    1. Thanks! Most photos are taken from our moving bike. Amy and Pam do the bulk of the photography.

Amy’s Birthday Ride!

We celebrated Amy’s last birthday in her 40’s by riding 58 miles. Tallahassee is behind us and we are staying in a cabin in Madison, FL. Passed a big alligator on the side of the road in our last 10 miles. Rode through Ray Charles birthplace. Planning a relaxing afternoon. Details of our Thursday 10AM finish at St Augustine beach are posted in a picture above. We will pull into the parking area by the fishing pier.  Upon arrival and we will take the finish picture at the Atlantic Ocean. If you plan to be there please let us know in the comments. Everyone in attendance will get a plaque, t-shirt or handshake.

In Gulf Shores, AL tonight.

It took about 30 minutes to exit Mississippi this morning. We dodged the rain until our last 30 minutes of the ride today. Made the 9:30am ferry across Mobile Bay. It costs $12 to take a tandem bike across in case you need to know that some time. The ferry saves us close to 70 miles. Lots of damage still in the gulf shore beach area. Rode a nice bike trail for several miles. Contemplating a trip to Lambert’s for dinner and a visit to Buccee’s.

In Gainesville. Two days left.
