Cold day equals late start.





















 The temperature was 48 when we woke up. Had a few challenges to start the day, so we opted for a great breakfast first. Walked our bike through an empty wash where the bridge was out. Saw pecan groves and flat coyotes. Finished the day in Las Cruces, NM.

    Sherry- We are not on a group ride. It’s the three of us and Pam’s dog. The group rides across the US are still on hold because of COVID. This ride is funded solely by my children’s inheritance. Because I took early retirement March 31st it was possible to do this trip. Much later in the year and it would have been too hot for the ride. Doing this type of trip comes down to time and resources. We are really fortunate that everything fell into place to do it. Thanks for asking and keeping up with us.

    Oh wow!! I had no idea! Even more of an undertaking! No wonder it looks so lonely out there. I kept waiting for other bikers to show up. I think I'll pray a little more often for all of you...Finn included! :)

    Love the different kinds of landscape, each has beauty of its own. I swear the sky is bluer where you are! Maybe it’s just because we’re coming out of our gray winter skies LOL

Amy’s Birthday Ride!

 We celebrated Amy’s last birthday in her 40’s by riding 58 miles. Tallahassee is behind us and we are staying in a cabin in Madison, FL. Passed a big alligator on the side of the road in our last 10 miles. Rode through Ray Charles birthplace. Planning a relaxing afternoon. Details of our Thursday 10AM finish at St Augustine beach are posted in a picture above. We will pull into the parking area by the fishing pier.  Upon arrival and we will take the finish picture at the Atlantic Ocean. If you plan to be there please let us know in the comments. In Gulf Shores, AL tonight.

 It took about 30 minutes to exit Mississippi this morning. We dodged the rain until our last 30 minutes of the ride today. Made the 9:30am ferry across Mobile Bay. It costs $12 to take a tandem bike across in case you need to know that some time. The ferry saves us close to 70 miles. Lots of damage still in the gulf shore beach area. Rode a nice bike trail for several miles. Contemplating a trip to Lambert’s for dinner and a visit to Buccee’s.
